This website is run by PDW Designs Ltd, a freelance mechanical design business based in Telford, Shropshire. This page explains what happens to information when you visit the site or get in touch. It is short, because very little happens.
This site sets no cookies. Nothing is stored on your device, by us or by anyone else, which is why there is no cookie banner to click through. There is no advertising, no tracking across other websites, and nothing is sold to anybody.
Visit statistics
We use Google Analytics to count visits, so we know whether anyone is finding the site. It is configured not to store anything on your device, which means we cannot recognise you if you come back and we cannot follow you anywhere else.
What it records for each visit:
- which pages were viewed, and when
- roughly where in the world the visit came from, worked out from your IP address by Google and not stored
- the type of device and browser
- the website or search engine you arrived from, if any
- whether the email or phone link was clicked, but not who clicked it
None of this identifies you, and we have no way of connecting it to a name. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: knowing whether a small business website is working, using the least information that answers the question.
If you get in touch
If you email or call, we use what you send us to reply and to carry out any work that follows. That means your name, your contact details, and whatever you tell us about the job. We do not add you to a mailing list and we do not send marketing.
Our lawful basis here is legitimate interests, and where the enquiry turns into a job, performance of a contract.
Who else is involved
- Google provides Google Analytics, so visit statistics are processed on Google's systems and may be handled outside the UK under the safeguards Google puts in place.
- Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site, and processes requests in order to serve pages and protect the site from abuse.
- Google Mail carries the email, because enquiries go to a Gmail address.
How long it is kept
Visit statistics are deleted by Google Analytics after a set period, and no longer than 14 months. Emails and enquiry details are kept for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and for business records afterwards.
Your rights
You can ask what information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict it. Email paulweale@googlemail.com and we will respond within one month.
Because the visit statistics do not identify anybody, we cannot find or delete a particular person's visits. If you would rather not be counted at all, Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics everywhere.
Complaints
If you think we have handled your information badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
